If you are a lover of houseplants, you must probably know all the hype plants under the sun currently – but can you tell me about the odd plants that no one probably knows exist? What could be more inspiring than knowing there is a really neat, out-there specimen out there begging to be collected—it feels like its treasures are hidden deep beneath the sea! These houseplants allow for the homes average occupant to make their personality known from room to room.

1. Tillandsia
These fun-loving little plants are also popular with creatively named common title ‘air plants’ and they have charming shelf-shaped forms, fascinating colors, and even more inspiringly, do not require a soil environment in which to thrive. They are also produced in a great many differences, and in playful colors like lilac, or raspberry. In fact, some will be as soft as if the Creator wanted to gift the world something furry to play with!
2. Bonsai
Well, let’s face it; most of us are aware of what a bonsai garden is, but it is rather difficult to meet one. Honestly, these are some of the most overlooked ornamental houseplants—they are living wood with foliage, and fit perfectly with minimalist and mid-century modern furniture trends today. Still odd is the shrub form of the Ming Aralia Plant.

3&4. Bougainvillea or Mandevilla
Beautiful and colourful tropical vines which include the Bougainvilleas and the Mandevillas are a perfect indoor accessory as well as a summer patio. Although the flowers and the foliage of these climbers are of different forms, the climbers are filled with joyous and luminous flowers that will tone up the spirit of this season.
5. Moon Cactus
This cute little plant called the Moon Cactus, is always ready for some swanky night out! Literally, one cactus grew from two different specimens grafted together; the green base and the bright pink or purple top create an unusual and fun-looking plant for the house.

6. Variegated Hoya
This easy-to-love and grow low maintenance semi-succulent trailing vine is quite unique in that each plant has a wide variety of foliage colours. The shape of the Variegated Hoya leaves can be the standard green color or any morph of white, pink, or maroon that always has a glossy finish.
7. Jasmine
If you’re drawn to the Jasmine, you might have to look past the fact that it’s just an ordinary-looking plant, but here’s what we find interesting about the plant: Well, if smelling the plant is not an option, then spare some of your sniffs to this amazing looking plant as it’s one of those few house plants that have one of the best smells. To compound this fine creation, the white flowers are lovely simply to have in the house. Brighten up any room or enjoy in the summer and bring it indoors when the weather gets cold.

8. Kalanchoe
If you are a fan of deathly colors such as the ability to warm up the house, this wonderful succulent is right for you! Packed with cute like candy flowers and ritzy leaves with scalloped margins you would hardly guess it is one of those easy-going houseplants. Kalanchoe is fantastic for bringing plenty of joy into a dining, side table, or desk.
9. Madagascar Dragon Tree
If you are more inclined to more contrasting texture than intense color, then the Madagascar Dragon Tree with the shape of a pom-pom cannot be ignored. It is a houseplant that requires virtually no attention – and that grew a thin, braided trunk and a shock of leaves, bright green with red-to-maroon edges. It is also possible to meet a shorter one with only a spray of foliage, as well as without a trunk.

10. Passion Flower Vine
If you’ve never looked at the strange flowers of the Passion Flower Vine, it may be quite perplexing how this quirky houseplant could be real! Even the flowers located in the purple area are quite unusual, so it is intriguing and lovely to watch them. This is, of course, suitable for someone who absolutely loves the word ugly in the sense of weird and wonderful.
11. Burle Marx Philodendron
They come with funky arrow-shaped foliage that is quite peculiar and interesting and should make guests green with envy if only they see it. As any other plant that comes to a new place or meets a new person, the NERD plant is going to attract a lot of attention in the form of questions like What is that? And where can I get one? Burle Marx is going to expand into even more of a behemoth and an even grander garden display; as it currently stands as the sprouting, it is simply breathtaking.

12. Triostar Stromanthe
A botanical eye-catcher that can be grown at home, the Triostar Stromanthe, looks like something you would never think could be related to plants, such as Aquafresh toothpaste. Yes, surprisingly, the thin stem and leaves have white, red, and green stripes that are somewhat similar to those tri-colored swirly things this plant will not improve your breath or your gum’s health, but it will improve your home décor.
